NOT A "DIET" BUT RATHER A "LIFESTYLE"

Mt. Mitchell, N.C./ JULY 2010

60 YRS OLD. 6'4" TALL, 310 LBS., FORMER MARATHONER (NEWPORT R.I. 3HRS. 58MIN. 28 SECONDS) 32 years old at the time) ran the race at 210 lbs.! WHAT HAPPENED?!

Time, age, personal problems, thyroid gland quitting (no excuse), rotator cuff surgery (not a valid excuse), depression over personal losses , neck and back problems.. lung infections, you get the drift.... OLD AGE slipping its 'ICY' fingers round my fat belly!

Now...mental status......"tough times never last....tough people do." Lifestyle status: "Eat protein, vegetables, seeds, and nuts, some fruit, little carbs, no SUGAR! Eat to maintain exercise, not body fat. (Not a diet.... but a "lifestyle.) My Italian heritage misses the pasta, "mamma mia the pasta," sausage, cold cuts, pizza, ............but ......my A1C (blood sugar levels) are reflective of the change in "lifestyle", as is my weight now 255lbs. and dropping steadily!

Weights now not as heavy, some cardio, some stretching, rest, and relaxation, ......or as ZANE would put it......I have EARN(ed) my new lifestyle....Exercise-Attitude-Rest-Nutrition..........(EARN).... are now at my life's center.

"Live simply........so that others may simply live "

Ciao for now.......Grey Panther.....Ciao

Great! I was looking for exactly the same thing all day yesterday. I really wish more people write about it.

From this post I understood that the health of a person depends so much on the lifestyle of the person. If you are having an active lifestyle, you will be healthier than someone with an inactive lifestyle. Thank you.

Yeah, I agree to that point that it is more important to follow a healthy lifestyle rather than following some strict diet plans. Following a healthy lifestyle is more sustaining than diet plans. And it would have a long effect than the diets.

Changing eating habits
by: Anonymous

What I get from your comments Luigi is that eating habits do change with age. That is a sad thing. I guess I should just admit that I am a sweet freak. Sausage, pizza, bread, etc. I can walk away from that without a lot of chaos, but sweets... oh man. I truly do want my cake and to eat it too. In fact my brain sometimes demands it! And like a robot, I obey without question. Ugh! And where does it go? Straight to my midsection. Straight to where I do not like it! The challenge for me is to accept that I cannot walk down that road anymore. And somehow find the perspective that is perfectly fine. Hope you have been doing well since this post and keeping the great attitude you talk about here. Tim
